Indonesia says it will make immediate arrangements to evacuate its citizens from turmoil-ridden Libya.“The communication situation between Indonesia and Tripoli is unlike that in Egypt. Therefore, we must confirm tonight the technicalities of the rescue mechanism,” Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto said on Thursday in Jakarta after meeting with ministers and senior officials, as quoted by Kompas.com.
Djoko said there were two options: initial evacuation to a third country before repatriation, which would be done if needed, or direct evacuation to Indonesia, which would require assembling all Indonesians in Libya at the airport at the right time.
“Hopefully, the technicalities will run more smoothly than Egypt,” Djoko said.
Hasan Wirajuda, who coordinated the evacuation of Indonesian nationals from Egypt, was chosen to lead the Libya evacuation.
