Kapten tim nasional Indonesia, Bambang Pamungkas, menilai pemecatan Alfred Riedl dari jabatan Pelatih Kepala Timnas Indonesia sebagai tindakan yang tidak pantas. Pengurus PSSI semestinya bisa bersikap lebih baik kepada pelatih asal Austria tersebut."Seharusnya kita memperlakukan Riedl lebih baik. Dia sudah memberikan kontribusi yang penting. Setidaknya, dia pernah memberikan kegembiraan bagi sepak bola nasional (masuk final Piala AFF 2010)," ujar pemain yang akrab dipanggil "Bepe" itu, Jumat (15/7/2011) di Jakarta.
"Saya pribadi, dua hari lalu, sudah berkomunikasi lewat telepon. Dia berkata kepada saya bahwa siapa pun pelatihnya, kami (pemain) harus tampil seratus persen," sambungnya.
Riedl dipecat secara sepihak oleh pengurus PSSI karena permasalahan kontrak. Ketua Umum PSSI Djohar Arifin Husin menjelaskan, Riedl dikontrak secara personal dengan Nirwan Dermawan Bakrie, bukan dengan PSSI. Posisi Riedl pun digantikan oleh Wim Rijsbergen, pelatih berkebangsaan Belanda.
Bambang mengakui, pergantian pelatih itu akan memengaruhi kekuatan timnya dalam waktu singkat ini. "Pergantian pelatih dalam dunia sepak bola profesional sudah menjadi hal yang biasa, tetapi tentu ada pengaruh. Pelatih baru jelas akan membawa metode kepelatihan yang baru," kata Bepe.
Bersama pelatih baru, timnas akan menghadapi Turkmenistan pada 24 Juli mendatang dalam laga Pra-Piala Dunia 2014. Hari ini, para pemain sudah menjalani latihan perdana di bawah asuhan pelatih Wim dan asistennya, Rahmad Darmawan.
