The head of state made the statement when he attended the peak commemoration of the 8th anniversary of Mutual-Help Service Month (BBGRM) and the 39th anniversary of Integrated Action Day of the Family Welfare Movement (HKG PKK) in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
According to the president, all parties should cooperate in improving the living standards of the people in the country. President Yudhoyono said the development in Indonesia also needed the government involvement that could be realized through a number of assistance programs for the people.
To expand, strengthen, and accelerate the national development, the president called on his countrymen to continue to maintain the national identity. According to the president, the national identity was marked with peace-loving community who respect each other, and uphold manners and local wisdom.
"Do not ever leave the national identity, values, and personality," the president said.
The President was during the function accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono and a number of ministers, including Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Agung Laksono and Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi. In the course of the event, the President also held dialogs with a number of village heads, religious figures, and members of women’s organizations.
During his stay, the president will also visit a trade and business expo, and to witness the delivery of various assistance to the local people. The President arrived in Pontianak, capital of West Kalimantan province, by Boeing 737-800 special presidential plane on Monday for a two-day working visit.
