Bank Indonesia (BI) will soon issue policies to boost banks' efficiency in Indonesia as overseas banks are deemed more efficient."The banks in Indonesia are less efficient than overseas ones," said Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, S Budi Rochadi, today, September 16.
According to Budi, the banks in Indonesia are basically capable of earning better profit margin than those situated in overseas countries. "[we gain] higher profit, yet poorer efficiency. Should this be the issue, profit margin should be cut," he said.
Concerning the national bank's gesture after taking penalty on the minimum statutory reserves, Budi said the national banking will actually not deal with difficulties in meeting the provision on the loan deposit ratio and minimum statutory reserve.
"Some banks like BCA, Bank Mandiri, and BNI are not yet asked. But they actually can afford it," he said.
