The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) claims to have the fund disbursement data of Century Bank. However the data can't be processed yet because there is the Law that protects banking confidentiality.

"Currently the data of disbursements and accounts is in our hands. We have the data from BI (Bank Indonesia) and PPATK (Financial Transaction Analysis and Report Center), but we can't deliver it to the House. Because once it's at the House, then it's public property. If this is made public, I could be sentenced," said BPK chief Hadi Purnomo during the 63rd BPK Anniversary at the BPK building, Jakarta, Monday.

Hadi explained that banking data can't be publicized according to these three laws: BI Law Chapter 30, Banking Law chapter 40, and PPATK Law. "So BPK can't reveal banking secrets."

BPK member Taufiequrachman Ruki stated that they are doing a follow-up audit on Century Bank. The audit is by the special request of the legislature's inquiry committee. The audit will include checking Century's fund disbursements.

Now BPK is studying the legal aspect of submitting the result to the House. "We have the data. We must consider the legal aspect whether the owners of the accounts could sue us for revealing this to the public." (KOMPAS)
