Update: Coins Collected for Prita Rp 446 Mn

A potpourri of people cannot stop their support over Prita Mulyasari, a mother of two, who has been sued by Omni International Hospital, Tangerang, Indonesia, of committing alleged defamation against the hospital by passing on coins. Latest update shows that the coins collected reach around Ro 446 million (US$47,000).

Spokesperson of the coin collection Enda Nasution told Indonesian tv station tvOne on Tuesday, Dec 15, that Rp 345 million out of the said amount were received from various areas. "Those coins counted up in the provinces have passed our control," he said.

The sum includes those worth Rp 195 million collected on Jalan Margasatwa, Jati Padang, Ragunan, drop box.

The remaining Rp 101.501 million was computed by around 100 volunteers on Jalan Langsat, South Jakarta, on Monday, Dec 14. The process is expected to end by Dec 17.

The 'Koin Peduli Prita' movement was a result of the verdict passed by Banten High Court against Prita Mulyasari which obliged her of paying off Omni International Alam Sutera by Rp 204 million. The collected coins aim at helping Prita to meet the obligation.

However, amidst a wave of coin collection, Omni Hospital agreed of repealing the civil lawsuit against Prita. "Despite the revoked lawsuit, we will still hand in the coins to Prita. She'll be free of using the coins for whatever purposes she intends including to give assistance on similar case," said Enda.

Prita also received help from various figures in the parliamentary. She said she will make use of the fund to help the fellow victims of injustice.(VIVAnews)
