Sri Mulyani admits higher heart beat ahead of hearing

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani admitted on Friday her heart was beating faster ahead of her hearing with the House Bank Century Inquiry Committee next week but said she was ready to attend it.

"Of course, my heart is pounding. But it would be dangerous , if it is not," she said after attending a meeting to discuss relocation of infrastructure damaged by the mudflow in Sidoarjo, East Java, at the vice president`s office.

Mulyani who chaired the Financial Sector Stability Committee (KSSK) that decided the Century Bank bailout last year is scheduled to appear before the House Inquiry Committee on January 13.

Besides her, the committee will also summon former central bank governor Boediono and also former vice president Jusuf Kalla for a hearing scheduled on January 12.

Boediono is scheduled to be heard for the second time at 10am while Kalla at 7pm .
Sri Mulyani said although her heart was pounding she was ready to attend the hearing.

The former secretary of KSSK, Raden Pardede, meanwhile is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday at 3pm.

The committee also plans to summon former chief of the President`s Working Unit for Reform Program Management, Marsilam Simanjuntak, on Thursday at 10am and acting central bank governor Darmin Nasution at 1pm and Fadel Rahmani at 7pm.

The House of Representatives set up the committee following pressures from many quarters suspecting that the government`s decision to inject Rp6.7 trillion to save the Century Bank last was illegal.(ANTARA News)
