Could Sri Mulyani be Trapped with The Recording Evidence?

JAKARTA LIFE'S STYLE

The Century Bank inquiry special committee has just received a recorded conversation between Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Century Bank Director Robert Tantular.

The official record - not tapping - was from the Committee for Financial Sector Stability (KSSK) meeting on November 21, 2008. The Century Inquiry committee member, Bambang Susatyo, kept the source of the record confidential though.

However, Bambang ensured that the record showed a familiarity between Sri Mulyani and Robert Tantular. "It's possible that he (Robert) influenced the reason for a systemic act for Century Bank," he said after the consultation meeting of the special committee with fraction representatives, Friday.

Bambang said that Robert was present at the KSSK meeting from start till end just before dawn. "The gist of the record is: Sri Mulyani said, 'Mr. Robert, we will have a closed meeting to determine the bailout.' Then Robert replied, 'Yes ma'am, if it's a closed one please do, but the conclusion is we should just say that it (the bailout) was due to the economic crisis'."

Besides Sri Mulyani and Robert Tantular, according to Bambang there was also the voice of Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor, Miranda Gultom, in the meeting's recording. "We will play it at the special committee meeting. You should all just hear it then."(KOMPAS.com)
