JAKARTA LIFE'S STYLE

Jakarta Police Samapta Director, Police Great Comr. Agus Mulyono, considers the public act on the Antigraft Day, Wednesday, as a form of celebration.

"We don't consider the public act as a threat but instead as a form of celebration," said Agus Mulyono after leading the preparation briefing to anticipate the world Antigraft Day at the Jakarta Police HQ, South Jakarta, Tueday.

Agus said that the police are obliged to give their best service for the people who wish to express their opinions in public or to demonstrate to celebrate the Antigraft Day.

The reason is that the police also has an interest in fighting corruption, so the people and the police can have the same perception to celebrate the Antigraft Day.

The Jakarta Police is going to assign 4,344 personnels to secure streets for the Antigraft Day acts and 9,000 reserves in the district and sub-district police under the its jurisdiction.

"They won't be equipped with fire-arms so as to avoid clashes."

Agus commanded the police personnel on duty to know their partners so that they won't be tricked or used by infiltrating parties who'd cause provocation so that the people would consider the police as arrogant.

Agus emphasized that the police must be vigilant for any perpetator who might try to clash the people with the security authority so that the locations of the acts would be unsafe.

The Jakarta Police identified five locations that would be the focus of the Antigraft Day celebrations, which are: the House of Rep. building, the Corruption Eradication Commission building, Hotel Indonesia circle, Bank Indonesia, and the Merdeka Palace or the National Monument.

Agus expects the police on duty not to deviate from their instructions, since the security of the Antigraft Day will affect the security of the Human Rights Day, Thursday.

If the situation became unsafe, then the police already have the measures according to the safety procedures and policies.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar stated that 10 public elements have reported their action plans to the police regarding the demonstrations for the world Antigraft Day.

Those public elements are: the People's Alliance Flow for SBY, the Railway Worker's Union, The People's and Student's Alliance, Bima NGO, Clean Indonesia Movement, GMNI, GMKRI, Kompak, Unas, Gapura, and Forum 77-78.

On the other hand the units that will deployed to secure the acts are the Samapta unit, Traffic Police unit, Intel, Detective unit, the People Control (Dalmas) unit, and the Mobile Brigade.

"But the security status of Jakarta has not been elevated for the Antigraft Day."(KOMPAS.com)
