The newest public transport in Jakarta, Indonesia is Busway. It is a specific line of road dedicated only for the buses of Transjakarta Busway. It started going active about 4 years ago in January 2004. It is started to help reduce the traffic jam in most main road in Jakarta. They have some corridors, which service different ways of the road in Jakarta. The first corridor is for Blok M to Kota, the second is Pulogadung to Harmoni, and Harmoni to Kalideres, Pulogadung to Dukuh Atas, Melayu to Ancol, Ragunan to Kuningan, Kampung Melayu to Kampung Rambutan. It covers almost all busiest road in Jakarta. The buses is painted with different colors for each corridors to ease the recognition in which bus to take to where. I love this public transport since they have their own line, so there are no other transportation in it hence they don’t get caught in traffic jams. All corridors are connected in some point of the line so we could take this corridor and move to the next corridor with the same price! The price is amazingly cheap, remembering we could go to almost anywhere in Jakarta in ease.
The buses are air conditioned so it’s also a plus sign. There would be one security in each bus to help the passengers. And the buses are well managed, they are clean, unlike most of the buses in Jakarta. It’s also safer than any other buses in Jakarta I think, maybe because of the security. Though it’s not proven yet to reduce the traffic in Jakarta, and often protested by the other road users as car owners, I still think Transjakarta Busway is the best public transportation in Jakarta. 10 for them!
