Former Deputy of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean informed to the media on Tuesday night that he had been appointed as the interim chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission.Tumpak who was a senior prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office before appointed as one of the deputies in the commission in 2003 said, “Our deal was firm that I had been appointed as the interim chairman.” He did not specify the position given to the other two interim officials Mas Achmad Santosa and Waluyo saying only that he will consolidate with senior officials of the commission to assign the right officials on each unit in the commission.
The five units are Enforcement, Prevention, Internal Monitoring and Public Complaints, Information and Data, and Secretariat. Tumpak said the most startegic posts will be directed himself Mochamad Jasin, and Mas Achmad Santosa.
The three replacements came after three top officials of the commission – Antasari Azhar, Chandra M Hamzah, and Bibit Waluyo were implicated in murder and abuse of power cases, in what critics saw as bids to disrupt the fierce crackdown on corruption. (TEMPO Interactive)
