Clean water supply from the waterworks (PDAM) in 14 villages of Padang city, West Sumatra’s provincial capital, had not been restored due to a shattered pipeline caused by last Wednesday’s 7,9 magnitude quake. The 14 villages are Lapai, Gunung Pangilun, Ulak Karang, Alai, Lubuk Lintah, Jati, Belanti, Simpang Haru, Pasar Raya, Pondok and Aur Duri, PDAM spokesman Mashalfri said on Sunday.
He said technicians of the waterworks in Gunung Pangilun, are currently trying to repair the damaged pipeline, and hopefully it would be good as new in the next two weeks.
Actually, Padang city has four waterworks, namely in Gadut, Latu, Kuranji and Gunung Pangilun. The waterworks subscribers said for the time being they had to rely on clear water from local wells. (KOMPAS.com)
