Teenage model and sinetron actress Manohara Odelia Pinot Joins Mourners of Indonesian Reggae Star Mbah Surip

JAKARTA LIFE'S STYLE. Teenage model and sinetron actress Manohara Odelia Pinot has joined the chorus of mourners expressing sadness about the passing of reggae star Mbah Surip.

“Manohara is very sad and cried when she heard [the news]. She is going to visit his home,” Manohara’s mother Daisy Fajarina told the Jakarta Globe on Tuesday.

Surip reportedly passed away at Pusdikkes Hospital in East Jakarta on Tuesday, aged 60. The former street singer rose to fame with the hit song “Tak Gendong Kemana Mana” (“I will Carry You On My Back Everywhere”).

Surip was reportedly a fan of Manohara also, and had come to her sinetron set last week to meet the teen star. He waited on set for her for hours and then played her a song on his guitar. Manohara said at the time that she felt very flattered by the visit because she was a big fan of Surip.

“Manohara said he is humble, and she is happy that Mbah Surip was happy at the end of his life,” Daisy said. “Manohara said that she thought Surip had a special aura and that he was very warm and friendly. Mano cared about him deeply.”
