Cut interprovincial road in the western coast of Sumatra will not be accessible for about a month in rain continue, regional official said on Tuesday after the weekend lanslide and flash flood blocked and swept off road sections in the province.Berlian Tihang head of the regional office of Public Works Department said on Tuesday “ if the rain continue it could be a month before the inter-provincial road could be passed.”
Mudslide have blocked the road between Kota Agung – Tanjakan Sedayu, while floods have washed away another road section in Tanjakan Sedayu in the southen part of the Bukit Barisan National Park.
Public Works Office have sent three heavy equipments to remove the mud and stones of the road, but continuous rain could intensify landslide risks in the mountainous area.
Transport Office in the province have diverted traffic in the western coast road to alternatives routes in the central and eastern part of the province until the roads are restored.(TEMPO Interactive)
